Gustav aims to celebrate the art of gilding and the use of gold leaf, the technique favoured by Gustav Klimt in particular.
The contrast between the materiality of gold, the purity of the metal and the delicacy of the floral representation creates a unique antithesis, conferring three-dimensionality upon the two-dimensional design.
"Whoever knows how to see beautiful things is because he has beauty within himself".
G.Klimt
Paolo Badesco-Costantino Affuso
htmlText_3323B02F_016E_69ED_4170_A961E32FED49.html = A family meeting. A gathering of separate elements, carefully arranged to converge in harmony. Playful shapes that refer to furnishing objects like lampshades and dividing panels. Joyful plays of graphic lines become a single family in virtue of colour matchings that define a new yet recognisable sphere.
Mae Engelgeer
htmlText_CA5F9216_FCA9_C4E2_41EB_639DBD05E602.html = Dune is an imaginary desert, created from the fusion of photographs taken during my travels in the desert areas of the world. This abstract scenario alludes to places in the world that are geographically very distant yet characterised by similar colours, such as the Sahara Desert in Morocco, the colourful lagoons of the Atacama Desert in Chile and the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, as they engage in dialogue with each other.
Elisa Vendramin
htmlText_CD21C9E6_FCBA_4722_41E4_684FFCEEA778.html = I learnt the technique of "pulled string art", used by one of my students on the experimental techniques course I teach at the IED in Turin, to create this image. It alludes to algorithms and Bézier curves.
Given my attraction to all things experimental and the use of incongruous materials in painting, I resolved to explore this fascinating practice, which when suitably integrated with digital processes, resulted in something I feel evokes ancestral plant forms, perhaps belonging to a prehistoric forest inhabited by dinosaurs.
Francesca Zoboli
htmlText_CEE54FA8_FCB9_DB2E_41E6_32C5A7ACE2F7.html = We have always been fascinated by herbariums and antique nature prints, especially by the quality with which engravers of the past wished to represent trees, plants and animals, using such abstract realism. In this play of amassed and upside down memories and fragments, we especially wanted to highlight this sort of play of memories and suggestions, as if they were shreds of a thought flowing through the pages of an old book of prints.
Ludovica+Roberto Palomba
htmlText_D153B277_FCA6_4522_41EC_2BD7B9169077.html = James Sowerby (1757–1822) was a naturalist, illustrator and mineralogist; with his detailed and appealing coloured panels and
accessible texts he contributed greatly in bringing works of natural history to the public at large. This also holds true for his books on British & Exotic Mineralogy, which presented the amazing world of minerals in great detail to the world, inspiring this very piece. One can imagine that these are all but fragments of his studies, enabling us to renew our appreciation of the incredible world of minerals.
Ctrlzak
htmlText_D77FD3C9_FC9A_4B6E_41E2_FEDA42CE6140.html = Inspired by the works of the great Gaston Suisse. Considered one of the most influential interior designers of the 1930s, with a strong interest in animals and the arts of the Far East, fascinated by big cats and exotic animals.
His decorations on panels, tables and other household objects presented at Parisian exhibitions and salons were a great success among art collectors of the time, enthusiasts of Deco style.
Lorenzo de Grandis
htmlText_D870BA81_FA9E_0BEB_41EC_1EF5534D53E8.html = The elegant textures and colours of Florentine marbled papers are the starting point in the design of this wallpaper.
The characteristic colourful waves of these artefacts are repeated almost obsessively to create a finely textured backdrop of contrasting colours. A movement reminiscent of a kind of digital screen disturbance, but also of the subtle, frenetic brushstrokes of Impressionist paintings. Hence the reference to Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and the idea of superimposing graphic elements in the shape of stars flying around, scattered across the background.
Serena Confalonieri
htmlText_D870E47F_FA9E_7F17_41D3_B3F31BC14A51.html = Choose a song from the jukebox, sit on one of the characteristic red stools and drink one of our best cocktails... or at a table in the sun on the patio, where cascades of bougainvillea cover the hotel's pink stucco walls. You’ll feel like a million dollars, guaranteed!
Lorenzo de Grandis
htmlText_D871B361_FA9E_392B_41ED_876CC9A2E9B5.html = All the colours of Brazil!
From tropical yellow and green to warm earth tonalities, a play of balance and joyful energy inspired by Carnival, to the rhythm of the samba!
Lorenzo de Grandis
htmlText_D873B848_FA9E_1779_41AB_9B2FCEF01E4D.html = This image was inspired by an original and fun idea to promote the world of illustration. Since it was early June, it felt right to create something to do with summer: so here is the dancer en pointe on the horizon, with the yellow sun as a tutu.
Alessandro Gottardo
htmlText_D8772B50_FA9E_0969_41D4_D6821A9F3B3F.html = An unusual colour marks the fulls and voids, the light and dark of a dense network of flowers and leaves.
In this floral scenario, some petals eschew colour and are only perceptible due to their contours.
Thus a lack of colour becomes substance that defines shape.
Gupica
htmlText_D97A8239_FA7E_3B1B_41C5_8F09D6DCE69E.html = All the colours of Brazil!
From tropical yellow and green to warm earth tonalities, a play of balance and joyful energy inspired by Carnival, to the rhythm of the samba!
Lorenzo de Grandis
htmlText_D9D84897_FB9E_C5E2_41BB_C624A85C53A3.html = Tutto è Luce is the result of a never-abandoned study which I first began as a young girl, in search of unusual objects and fabrics for my works. I re-photographed some old works, elaborated by skilled designers on worn and faded canvases, in order to obtain my own personal interpretation.
What are dreams if not projections of thoughts and light?
This design expresses an entirely autobiographical sense: like an interior cinematograph, we project frames of which we are an active part, and above all actors. The architectural lines are the reflection of my nocturnal visions, the scenes of daily life animated in whirling sequences. Rooms, corridors, friezes, fireplaces, orangeries, elliptical staircases, soaring ceilings are nothing but the scenes of my nocturnal visions, in which past and future come to life in daring adventures.
Eva Germani
htmlText_D9F4DCCF_FB9E_5D61_41C0_90E862A2DA49.html = The wear and tear of time, slow and gradual, the passing of the years create their own painting on a wall that becomes a canvas: a unique image, devoid of any form of representation, give interpretation a free rein to decide the imaginary place where the wall exists.
The brushstrokes of the wind and salt leave their mark on this abstract painting created by the sea, in a romantic encounter of opposites with the geometric lines created by man.
Paolo Badesco-Costantino Affuso
htmlText_D9F9C65F_FB9E_CD62_41E5_69792F9EE049.html = The strokes of the beach, the summer heat, the sun high in the sky, the chatter in the background.
The elements mix, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the eye lingers on the movements of the sand shifting in the breeze.
Christian Benini
htmlText_DA190A72_FA7E_0B29_41E6_AAEF6E5D6805.html = I have painted manifold backgrounds of vegetation, but always with the intention of using them as simple bases, ready to receive the ensuing drawing: in the case of beautiful flowers or tigers, this would mean continuing the landscape...or adding a languid rear view of a nude woman.
But this time I thought that the background would be enough on its own, so that everyone could complete their own painting and become its subject.
Eva Germani
htmlText_DA2CC358_FB9E_4B6E_41DD_4DC760001E25.html = My creation for the new Contemporary Wallpaper collection was inspired by a period of fascination and study of the Japonisme phenomenon, i.e. the influence that Japanese drawings, ukiyo and fabrics had in Vienna at the end of the 19th century.
Mine is a tribute to Katagami, a kind of traditional paper stencil that influenced subjects, the stylisation of natural patterns and compositions of the time and that were used in the textile ateliers of the Wiener Werkstätte until the 1920s.
Silvia Stella Osella
htmlText_DA2DFB4F_FB9F_DB62_41EB_633A6A22AD2B.html = Clouds are part of our symbolic imagination and have been represented in painting across the ages: Mantegna, Tiepolo, Constable or Magritte spring to mind.
Unlike in the Western world, their depiction is not realistic in the Orient: their representation is abstract, graphic and very often takes on the value of emptiness in the composition.
Last year, during a trip to Korea and Japan, I was able to observe mysterious and magnificent clouds in paintings, screens and prints, from which fragments of landscapes emerged, all reconstructed in the viewer's imagination.
In this project, I wanted to bring both worlds together in a play of juxtapositions.

This is no wall or partition; rather there is an allusion to an atmosphere, a dream in which the swan elegantly indulges. There are no limits or boundaries. Everything is fluid and free, an open system devoid of barriers, where the absence of straight lines creates a sense of freedom and openness. As often happens in dreams however, something suddenly bursts onto the scene: behold the second swan that shatters the silence, beating its wings mightily, whipping up a gust of wind that shakes and upsets the leaves around it.

A simple lemon or pomelo tree is laden with colours, flavours and tastes that can make our senses explode and inspire our dreams. Mankind builds images using lines. Chaos is nature’s raw material. The shapes of mankind are based on rational proportions and dimensions. Those of nature are steeped in rhythm and movement. Mankind adds contrast and unity; nature brings balance. Mankind is able to return to the future, to dance with time and behold its creations through the eyes of nature. Mankind knows how to draw: a kind of poetry made from the images of Nature.
